When you register a new domain, update the registrant's contact information, or transfer a domain to Webzi, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) requires that you verify the email address associated with the domain registrant. This is a mandatory step that must be completed to prevent your domain from being suspended.
In this guide, we'll explain what the process involves, how to complete it, and what happens if you don't do it in time.
ICANN's Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) requires all registrars to validate that the domain owner's email address is real and under their control. This measure aims to:
Protect the domain holder's identity.
Ensure the registrant can receive important communications about their domain (renewals, disputes, policy changes).
Prevent fraudulent registrations or registrations with false information.
⚠️ Warning: If you do not verify your email address within the established timeframe, your domain will be suspended. This means your website will stop working and the email associated with your domain will stop sending and receiving messages.
You'll receive a verification email in the following cases:
When registering a new domain — Sent automatically at the time of registration.
When updating registrant information — When you modify the name, organization, or email address of the registrant contact.
When transferring a domain to Webzi — Sent after the transfer is completed if the email has not been previously verified.
The email will be sent from dominios@webzi.mx or domains@webzi.mx with a subject line referring to the verification of your email address for your domain.
Look in the inbox of the email address you registered as the domain's registrant contact for a message from dominios@webzi.mx or domains@webzi.mx.
ℹ️ Tip: If you can't find it, check your Spam, Junk, or Promotions folders. Verification emails can be filtered by some email providers.
Inside the email, you'll find a verification link that will direct you to a page like:
https://webzi.mx/verify?verification_code
Click the link or copy and paste it into your browser.
Upon accessing the link, you'll see a confirmation message indicating that your email address has been successfully verified. That's it! Your domain will remain active and functioning normally.
You have 15 calendar days from the date the verification email was sent to complete the process. If you do not verify your email within this timeframe, your domain will enter a suspended state.
If you don't complete the verification within the deadline, the following will happen:
🚫 Your domain will be suspended — Your website will become inaccessible to visitors.
📧 Associated email will stop working — You won't be able to send or receive emails with your domain.
🔗 All linked services will be affected — Any application, API, or service that depends on your domain will stop working.
⚠️ Important: According to our Domain Management Policy, Webzi is not responsible for domain suspensions resulting from incomplete verifications, emails marked as spam, or incorrect email addresses provided by the customer.
If your domain was suspended due to lack of verification, you can reactivate it by completing the verification process:
Find the original verification email and click the link. In many cases, the link will still be active.
If the link has expired, contact us at soporte@webzi.mx to request a new verification email.
Once your email is verified, the domain will be reactivated automatically. Reactivation may take between a few minutes and 24 hours depending on propagation.
✅ Verify immediately
We recommend completing the verification as soon as you receive the email to avoid forgetting and potential suspensions.
📋 Add our senders as safe contacts
To make sure you always receive verification emails, add dominios@webzi.mx and domains@webzi.mx to your safe senders or trusted contacts list.
📧 Use a reliable email as registrant
Use an email address that you check frequently and that is not associated with the same domain you are registering. If you use your new domain as your contact email and it gets suspended, you won't be able to receive verification emails or easily reactivate it.
🔄 Keep your information up to date
If you change your email address, update your domain's contact information from your My Webzi panel in the "Contact Information" section. Remember that each change to the registrant's email will trigger a new verification request.
