Log in to your cPanel.
Go to Email > Email Accounts.
Find the account you want to configure and click on Connect Devices.
On the screen that appears, you will see two sections:
☑ Automatic Configuration Scripts: scripts that automatically configure compatible clients.
🛠 Manual Settings: all the data you need if you are going to enter it yourself in your email client.
Email clients (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Android Mail, etc.) need this information:
You can choose between IMAP or POP3:
Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.com (replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual domain)
Port (SSL/TLS): 993
Port without SSL: 143 (not recommended)
Advantage: keeps your emails synchronized across multiple devices.
Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.com
Port (SSL/TLS): 995
Port without SSL: 110 (not recommended)
Advantage: downloads emails and stores them locally.
Outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.com
Port (SSL/TLS recommended): 465
Alternative port (STARTTLS): 587
Requires authentication: Yes (use your full email address and password).
Username: your full email address (for example: user@mydomain.com).
Password: the one you set when creating the account in cPanel.
Open Outlook and select Add account.
Enter your email address and select Manual setup / Advanced server types.
Choose IMAP (recommended) or POP3.
Fill in the fields with the incoming and outgoing server data as detailed above.
Save the changes and test by sending/receiving emails.
Tips for Outlook
If there is an option to choose between SSL/TLS and STARTTLS for SMTP, choose SSL/TLS on port 465 (or 587 if using STARTTLS).
In Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account, select Other.
Enter your email address and password.
Choose IMAP or POP.
Fill in the incoming and outgoing server data.
Save and sync.
Open the email app on Android or the Gmail app.
Add a new account and choose Set up manually.
Select IMAP (recommended) or POP3.
Enter the incoming and outgoing server data with the corresponding ports.
Save and verify.
✔ Always use Secure SSL/TLS connection when the client allows it (ports 993, 995 for IMAP/POP3 and 465 for SMTP). This encrypts your emails and credentials.
✔ Some modern clients prefer STARTTLS on port 587 for SMTP instead of port 465, although both work.
✔ If a client does not accept SSL/TLS, check if it shows insecure configuration and avoid using it whenever possible.
cPanel offers automatic configuration scripts for certain clients (such as Mail.app or some Outlook versions). These scripts download the appropriate configuration and apply it for you without having to enter the data manually.
Not receiving email: check that the server, username, and ports are correct.
Cannot send email: verify SMTP authentication and ports 465 or 587.
Incorrect password: try logging into webmail to confirm that the password is correct.
